WGTC graduate finds success in Fitzgerald | Events
FITZGERALD, GA – News release from Wiregrass Georgia Technical College
Situations change our direction in life without any warning. This happened to Terry Johnson, a Wiregrass graduate. Johnson’s occupation was a farmer until an accident left him with a fractured ankle.
“I thank God for the downfall now with my broken ankle because it led me to Wiregrass Tech,” shared Johnson. He now considers his accident a blessing because it inspired him to start a new career. Johnson enrolled in the welding program at Wiregrass and later added Industrial Systems Technology after talking an Industrial Systems Technology Instructor.
He is now employed as a Maintenance Supervisor at Fitzgerald Converting and will celebrate his 1 year anniversary there in July.
Johnson added that everything he learned in the classroom at Wiregrass is what he’s doing on his job; from preventive maintenance to industrial maintenance on all the equipment.
He appreciates how his instructors at Wiregrass took interest in him and pushed him. He enjoys his job and takes pride in keeping things running at Fitzgerald Converting.
The Industrial Systems Technology program prepares students for employment in a variety of positions within the industrial maintenance field.
Wiregrass’ Welding and Joint Technology program emphasizes welding theory and practical application needed for a successful career.
Fall Semester starts August 22. New student applications are being accepted now for both the Industrial Systems Technology and the Welding Technology program.
